Meeting Masaharu Morimoto

Our short meet and greet was at Sur La Table in Santana Row in San Jose. I left work early, drove an hour through traffic and caught the last half of his cooking demo. I quicky ducked into the store, bought his new book, The New Art of Japanese Cooking. After which, I stood in line with the rest. It took about another 1/2 hour before I actually got to shake the Chef's hand. Without hesitation, I proclaimed, "You're my favorite Iron Chef!" He quickly answered, "Ya, me too!!"

What a great guy! I am enjoying the book and look forward to trying his recipes!

Surviving is important, but Thriving is elegant.

This quote is from Maya Angelou. So, there was someone whom I thought was a friend that greatly disappointed me last night. I started to write a very angry and colorful email, but decided not to send it right away. I slept on it. Today I still feel a little dejected but the anger passed and in it's wake I found myself staring into points of light...

I believe the way you see people is the way you treat them and the way you treat them is what they become. Yesterday, the way I was treated by this "friend" left me confused, angry, resentful and dejected.

But what do you do? I went to my real friends and sought comfort, advice and affirmation. I learned that those shiny, points of light were the wisdom of generosity of my true friends who made me understand that I have to accept what comes at me and let me know that the most important thing is to meet it with courage and with the best I have to give.

Thank you for this, for listening, my friends...

Where in the World is Jenny??!??

Hi guys,

I know it's been a while since I put up a proper blog. Thanks to my good friend Anna from Brussles, she's reminded me that I really need to do a proper blog.

Oh where to start.. what's happening??!! Well I got a promotion to Lead/Manager at my firm!!! I am very happy and honored and really starting to get into the groove of my company - which I like very much!

With the new title comes a lot of paperwork, training and responsibilities. After almost two months because of a project hold (kinda like being on the bench/beach but with a good excuse!) I started my new project this week in the bay area! (Because of folks who found this blog that shouldn't have found this blog, I shant mention which city - but my peeps can always email me for the details!) After working in the desert at my last client, it's nice to again have a short commute and earn air/hotel miles again.

Any-hoo... I have a good client and a lead for a big, global project. I'll be here for a few months - maybe even a year. I was also told that I will have a chance to work/visit the client locations in Miami, London and Singapore. OK, my euro-friends, I know you are getting excited (hell, I am too...) but hold on until I get details and exact dates... then I'll see if I can make it a mini-whirlwind euro tour!

Swing dancing news... hmmmm. I've just came back from Swing Out New Hampshire and was dancing/sweating the day and night!! I'll have to add a link to those photos, it was a lot of fun! I finally uploaded some stuff on YouTube, just search for "bestofswing." I am going to a Swing Cruise next January and possibly join Kyle in Hawaii for another swing dancing exchange. Other than that, I will probably go swing dancing here in the bay area since the leads are better and the climate much more friendlier!

OK, you want to know about Marc and me... well... we made it though one year of dating and almost one year of being boyfriend and girlfriend! He's very sweet and calm with me - he puts up with my work/travel, so that;s a good thing! We're planning some more canoe and hiking trips this fall, so stay tuned for photos.

That's all for now, I promise to post more later! Miss ya, love ya lots,

Jenn
